Welcoming March with Chaconne and Symphonies from Baroque and Classical era, Aula Simfonia Jakarta Mar 18th concert presents exciting programs:
TOMASO ANTONIO VITALI - Chaconne for Violin and Piano in G Minor
Vitali was an Italian composer and violinist from Bologna. The Chaconne has been very popular among violinist and is the piece which Vitali is most known for. Ironically, there have been doubts among the scholars whether or not he composed the piece, since they have found nothing even remotely similar to it within Vitali's catalog of authenticated works. The piece was found and edited by 19th century violinist Ferdinand David in a Dresden manuscript. It was marked on the first page as "Parte del Tomaso Vitalino" (Tomaso Vitalino's part), who may or may not be Vitali. However, all the doubts have not lessened the popularity of the piece. There have been many arrangements done on the piece and it is still performed widely across the world today
WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART - Symphony No. 35 in D Major, K. 385
Known as the Haffner Symphony, the piece was commissioned by a prominent Salzburg family, the Haffners, for the ennoblement of Sigmund Haffner Jr. Despite being overwhelmed with work and preparations for his wedding to Constanze, Mozart was pressed by his father to work on the piece. Mozart managed to finish a six movement serenade for the ennoblement. A few months later he was preparing a concert where he needed a new piece. Mozart took the serenade expanded the orchestration, and reworked it into the symphony that we know today. The premiere was a success, and Mozart wrote to his father about how His Majesty the Emperor was delighted and even applauded
JOSEPH HAYDN - Symphonies Nos. 6, 7, 8
The Symphonies are each nicknamed, respectively, Le matin (The Morning), Le midi IThe Noon), Le soir (The Night); and together the trio is called "The Day Trilogy". Haydn is well known for his Symphonies He's often referred to as "The Father of the Symphony" and he continued to write them into his eighties. The Symphony No. 6 was the first symphony he composed at his new post at Eszterhaza, Haydn's first tasks included employing new musicians for the orchestra. The extensive solos for different instruments in the symphonies showcased his choice of the new players. Haydn was also attempting to please the players of the orchestra. At that time, it was customary to give financial rewards for the soloists, and by including many solos he was literally spreading the wealth. The trilogy has been described by musicologists as being "on the borderline between symphony and concerto grosso seemed they were written to please his employer, Prince Esterhazy, who had a penchant for the programmatic music of the ltalian baroque.
